Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need coaching?
I am a bit of an evangelist about coaching as I think everyone can benefit from it. Having quality conversations with a thinking partner is enormously helpful and offers a rich and unique perspective on whatever is going on.
Perhaps one of the statements listed under 'Approach' resonated. Perhaps you're stuck with no idea what to do, know what to do but are prevaricating or feel at the top of your game and want to keep there or go further. Whatever 'it' is, I believe coaching helps.
How do I know you're the right coach for me?
It is important to ask lots of questions in the initial 'chemistry' call so you get the security and comfort you need. These might cover my experience coaching goals/topics like yours, my training (and ongoing CPD), my accreditation and what that means for you.
I talk about 'fit' because at the end of our initial conversation we will both have a sense of whether we can work together or not. Rapport is key to the relationship working and to you getting what you need, so trust your gut and how you feel.
I have a large network so if the fit isn't quite right, I am happy to refer you so you find the right coach for you.
How long is a coaching programme?
The average coaching programme consists of 6 sessions but often varies depending on your goal. Sessions are roughly 1-1.5 hours long and can be face to face or virtually. Again, this would be tailored to suit and something we'd discuss during our initial conversation.
What are your fees?
I have a fee scale that I use for self-sponsored individuals which is discussed during our initial conversation. It's comparable to a hot stone massage or a golf lesson and I do tailor fees to suit the individual.
For companies commissioning a body of work, once we have discussed your requirements the fees form part of the proposal, especially as this may involve bringing in other trusted coaches to deliver alongside me.
What sort of relationships do you coach?
I work with clients around relationship challenges in both personal and professional contexts and, where appropriate, I can work with all parties involved.
I believe coaching can help improve all relationships. I take a broad view and consider the possible impact of the change clients are seeking to make. Everything has a relational consideration so looking at the consequences of change in the wider 'system' is really important, whatever the challenge.
How do we get going?
The initial 'chemistry' call is free and there's no obligation to continue. If you do decide to enter into coaching with me, we set the terms of the contract together (time, cost, frequency, etc.) and, in the event that either of us feel we want to stop the coaching relationship before the programme end, then we talk about that too.
Making time to fit in a coaching programme may seem daunting or like a big commitment. In some ways it is, because investing in yourself takes applied effort, but it is always worth it.
